October 15th was my birthday, and in addition to getting the best birthday gift ever a few days early, the staff at the Landis found out that it was my birthday and dropped off the following tray to our room:
The cake was chocolate mousse and was delicious. You see all the forks as if we could share this with others... however, we ended up eating it ourselves in the room with at least two slices of cake each!
On the 16th, we had to check out at 3 pm, and we had a very busy day trying to get in everything that we wanted to see! Fion picked us up around 10 and took us to the Taiwan Handicraft Market, where we had a really great time shopping for a variety of traditional items. Elli and Mommy did some serious jewelry shopping (is it bad if I'm letting a 6 month old help me make jewelry purchase decisions??) and we found a few fun toys for gifts for Elli for when she gets a little older.
After we got back, we went down to the hotel restaurant for lunch. One of the waiters there snapped this picture of the three of us:
After lunch, we took a trip down to Chang Kai Shek Memorial Hall. You can't quite tell in this picture, but there was a rainbow off to the side of the Memorial as we entered the square.
Elli was an absolute angel on our plane rides home, and spent all but about 2.5 hours of the 15.5 hours of travel sacked out in one of our arms, like this:
The hardest part of the travel was the 16 hour layover in San Francisco, where Elli was sure it was daytime even though the clock said 3 am! However, she was very interested in some of her toys:
The airport had the best lighting we'd seen in a few days, and we took the opportunity to give Elli a little manicure (so she stopped scratching herself and Mommy while she was trying to get to sleep)!
We arrived home on time and Elli is very, very close to being on Eastern Standard Time. She woke up around 8 this morning, and we got her dressed up for church. Daddy absolutely loves Argyle, so I'd bought this dress for Elli a month ago. As you can see, she and Daddy both look very good in their argyle outfits.
Elli pretty much loves anything that has moving fingers, and watching Daddy play the piano is even more fun than watching typing, since there's music being made, too!

The picture of Elli smiling (like an adult) is really cute. As if she knows everything.
Glad she feels comfortable given the long flight back. (I will usually get really cranky).

Sorry for MY delay in posting when it has been so phenomenal to see all of your updates right on time! I didn't check for a little while in early October and then the first day I did, was the day you left for Taiwan! So I've loved reading every step of the way since. We're so glad that Elli is home with you and we can't wait to see all of you (sometime!) soon.
HI there...Did you like the Landis? Did you book directly? We leave in a little over 3 weeks to pick up our sweet boy....we already booked airfare, just weighing all of our options as far as hotels....
