Elli has turned some of her new problem-solving skills to good use this week. She loves her little snuggle bunny (okay, bunnies -- we took the advice of friends and bought a few extras since she's so attached to them), and her favorite way to go to sleep is to take one of the ears and fold it up under her nose. I don't know if she likes to breathe in the comforting scent or if she just likes feeling the softness on the skin under her nose, but this has been a favorite soothing activity for a long time for her.
Except the problem is that when you fall asleep, your hand goes limp, and then bunny falls off to the side.
Elli has figured out a solution -- you just tuck bunny's ear between your lip and your pacifier while you're sleeping! (I wish I had a picture for the blog, but it wasn't worth waking her up to do so.) Last night we went upstairs to check on her, and she was flopping like a fish from her sides to her back, and poor bunny stayed put the entire time, whipping from side to side.
Elli is also obviously starting to understand more of what we're saying. On Sunday, we took her for a walk in her stroller and, as part of the conversation, Jeremy asked what was for dinner. I was rattling off options that included egg and bacon sandwiches when Elli turned around completely in her stroller, looked at me, and said very clearly: "Bacon! MMMMmmmm!" Guess what we had for dinner?
